WHAT DO YOU SEE?
Original artwork by Angelica De Jesus
At first glance, you see an eye. Turn the image, and something else begins to emerge: a leaf.
In What Do You See?, the same lines take on two identities. The veins of the eye become the veins of a leaf, while the dark pupil becomes a seed. Neither interpretation replaces the other. Both have always existed within the same image.
At the heart of the work is an exploration of perception, growth, and perspective. What we see takes root within us, becoming memory, thought, emotion, and belief. What grows within us, in turn, changes the way we see.
Seeing gives birth to growth, and growth gives birth to new ways of seeing.
The artwork itself does not change. Only the perspective does.
At its center remains the same dark point: pupil and seed, sight and beginning.
About the Tote
What Do You See? began as an original artwork by Angelica De Jesus and is reproduced here as a functional piece of wearable, everyday art.
The original artwork is paired with its central question, WHAT DO YOU SEE?, turning a classic cotton tote into a small invitation to look twice.
