WHAT DO YOU SEE?

At first glance, the work presents an eye, bright, intense, and almost confrontational. A dark pupil rests within a vivid green center, surrounded by layers of yellow, red, brown, and blue. Branching lines travel through the eye like veins, suggesting that what is being seen is not merely observed, but alive.

But change the orientation, and the image changes with it.

The eye begins to resemble a leaf. The lines that once appeared as veins of an eye become the veins and stem of a living plant. The pupil becomes something closer to a seed, a dark point from which the surrounding form seems to emerge and grow.

Neither interpretation completely replaces the other. The leaf was always contained within the eye, just as the eye remains present within the leaf.

The two forms become a cycle: seeing gives birth to growth, and growth gives birth to new ways of seeing. What enters us through perception does not remain unchanged. It takes root, becoming memory, thought, emotion, belief, and eventually something new. In turn, what grows within us changes the way we encounter the world.

The original artwork has no absolute orientation. Horizontally, perception dominates. Vertically, growth emerges. The image itself never changes. Only the perspective does.

At its center remains the same dark point: pupil and seed, sight and beginning.

The horizontal eye appears first, followed by the same artwork turned vertically, allowing the transformation from eye to leaf, pupil to seed to happen directly on the garment.

Created as wearable original art, this crewneck invites a second look and asks the viewer to consider how something can remain exactly the same while becoming something entirely different through a change in perspective.
