SHE KNOWS — Original Artwork

SHE KNOWS

What does she know?

Perhaps the better question is: what has she seen?

She Knows portrays an eye that seems to have encountered enough of the world to understand that it is not always gentle. There has been suffering. Disappointment. Evil. Uncertainty. The kind of things that change the way a person looks at what is around them.

This is not the eye of someone untouched by those things.

But neither is it an eye overcome by them.

The warm amber and golden tones give the eye a sense of maturity and depth. There is still light here. There is still warmth. There is still an extraordinary clarity in the gaze.

And the eye looks slightly upward.

She has seen enough to know what exists below, but she still knows where to look.

Within the eye, three reflections of light carry another meaning. They represent the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Light remains reflected in the eye even after everything it has witnessed.

Perhaps that is what she knows.

She knows suffering exists.
She knows darkness exists.
She knows that the world can wound.

But she also knows God.

Not outside the chaos. Not because suffering never reached her. She knows Him in the middle of it.

And so she looks upward.

The title does not tell us everything she knows. It leaves that question with the viewer.

Perhaps she knows more than she wishes she did.

Perhaps she knows exactly enough.
